what assignment i loved!:)(:

Memorable assignment

When I first came into honors English I was a scared ignorant little eighth grader who had no idea that literature was not just to suppose to be taken literally but instead had a deeper meaningful message. Now the year is almost over and I now see literature in a new light. I’ve learned how to analyze literature and look for a deeper meaning behind what the author is saying. Because of this, I’m now able to appreciate literature and realize its complexities and true worth.

The assignment that stands out to me the most was the TWIST assignment and the Importance of Being Earnest assignment. TWIST taught me how to analyze literature and be able to look past the surface and dig deeper. Before learning this technique I couldn’t even comprehend the meaning of analyses. I take especial pride in my Importance of being earnest paragraph because I excelled! I put a lot of hard work and effort into this and in return I was able to write a paragraph that exemplified this. Overall I grew as a writer and learned that English can be exciting and fun! :)

A good experience with poetry

Every night before I would go to bed my mother would sing me a lullaby and as I drifted off to sleep images of deep woods would float through my head. Years later as I sat in my English class my teacher announced that we would be reading a poem. Little did I know the poem we did, "Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening" by Robert Frost was the lullaby my mother used to sing to me.

That was my first real encounter with poetry. Because of its connection to my childhood I now feel comfort and a sense of reminiscence when I hear the familiar words. It saddens me to know that most people have never herd the tranquil melodies that make the poem so wonderful.
