Every night before I would go to bed my mother would sing me a lullaby and as I drifted off to sleep images of deep woods would float through my head. Years later as I sat in my English class my teacher announced that we would be reading a poem. Little did I know the poem we did, "Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening" by Robert Frost was the lullaby my mother used to sing to me.
That was my first real encounter with poetry. Because of its connection to my childhood I now feel comfort and a sense of reminiscence when I hear the familiar words. It saddens me to know that most people have never herd the tranquil melodies that make the poem so wonderful.
